BIO
Denis Kandle, a musician hailing from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, embarked on his musical journey in 1994 as the vocalist of the band Pregnant Felix, alongside guitarist Marcelo Vasco (currently in Troops Of Doom), bassist Fabio Pires (currently in Helga), and drummer Duda. Over the years, Denis's passion for music led him to various ventures, including producing Projeto Bandas, a notable weekly event that showcased bands from Rio and other states, and opening for the renowned New Yorker band Shelter with his band N.O.P.E in 1998 in Rio.
In 2001, Denis had the honor of deejaying at the Eletro Tent of Rock In Rio III Festival, sharing the stage with iconic acts such as Ferry Corsten. He further solidified his presence in the music scene by becoming the resident DJ of Electrolounge at Bunker 94 in Rio from 2005 to 2006.
Driven by his passion for electronic music, Denis embarked on a new musical direction, forming two personal projects, Colortronic and Aliencore. However, it was in 2020 that he truly came into his own as a solo artist under the moniker DKANDLE, crafting a captivating fusion of shoegaze, grunge and post-punk.
DKANDLE's musical experimentation has been met with resounding enjoyment. With three singles already released, including the debut 'Flame', which earned a spot on the 'Aspirin Age: Volume Two (A Shoegaze Compilation)' by Broken Sound Tapes, DKANDLE's debut album, Mondano, arrived in September 2022, enchanting listeners with its evocative soundscapes.
Continuing his creative journey, DKANDLE is poised to captivate audiences once again with the release of his highly anticipated second album, 'MORE DRAG QUEENS LESS DRAMA QUEENS' (release date to be announced). Leading up to the album's release, fans can expect the single 'Hanging Out In Stars' to drop on July 14, 2023, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the sonic exploration and artistic evolution of DKANDLE.

MORE DRAG QUEENS
LESS DRAMA QUEENS
S E C O N D A L B U M
The name of the album - MORE DRAG QUEENS LESS DRAMA QUEENS - has a political slant. It represents support for the LGBT community, which has been increasingly demonized by the far right, as with recent drag queens performances banned in many parts of the US, as well as with the Italian Prime Minister voting for laws against gay rights and Uganda approving the death penalty for homosexuals. DKANDLE is totally in favor of LGBT rights and against the religious obscurantists who try to push their moral agenda.
Most songs were born in Amsterdam around New Year's Day 2023. They were all produced in Denis Kandle's studio in Tuscany, Italy. This is the second album released by DKANDLE.

GOLDEN SPARKLE
The lyrics of 'Golden Sparkle' highlight the pleasure and liberation derived from challenging and questioning well-established notions of divine justice.
DE LA SHOWER
The oldest song of the album, it was originally written for my former band John and Mary in 1996, but it was never released before. The tone of the lyrics suggests a mixture of both serious and ironic elements. Overall, it plays with the tension between serious emotions and ironic or absurd imagery to make a point about the complexities of dealing with tortuous emotions.
I EXIST ONLY IN YOUR MIND
These lyrics explore the nature of self and reality, inviting listeners to question societal norms, embrace uncertainty, and discover their true identity in a world full of possibilities.
MONTE ALBANO
This song is an ode to Monte Albano, where my home studio is located in Tuscany. The lyrics are about the human desire for connection and meaning, and the struggle to find those things in a sometimes confusing and uncertain world. It is the longest track of the album, lasting almost 9 minutes.
FLOATING ORB
'Floating Orb' explores the pursuit of self-discovery, the resilience needed to overcome challenges, and the longing for freedom that stems from within.
ODD COINCIDENCE
These lyrics delve into the paradoxical nature of desire, decision-making, and self-awareness, exploring the complexities of human longing and the value found in embracing imperfection and surrendering to authenticity.

These lyrics reflect a contemplation of existential unease and and the importance of breaking free from rigid constraints to truly experience life's possibilities. This track will be also released as the second single of the album in December 2023.

Kenneth Estrada
(Berlin Shoegazer)
“I'm sure you will love his music. It's a mixture out of Nirvana, My Bloody Valentine and Amusement Park On Fire.”

Marcelo Vasco
(Troops of Doom)
"I really enjoyed the album. It has a lot of atmospheric sound, so to speak, with a hint of industrial at times. It reminds me of some Radiohead stuff, the more B-sides... Anyways… Awesome!!!”

Juan Bascur
(ni))) naturaleza insaciable)
“The lessons from My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Ride and Flying Saucer Attack were very well assimilated by DKANDLE. The old flame of atmospheric rock has in his hands another chance to hook the curious public of these times".
